untrapped ministries

Untrapped Ministries is a gun violence prevention organization whose mission is to create change through Economic Empowerment, Health and Wellness and a sense of Connectedness and Belonging.

client ask:

to develop a solid brand foundation through an innovative and intentional brand strategy, design and experience that speaks to the organization’s perception of self.

Because Untrapped Ministries seeks to combat gun violence by empowering communities of color with the necessary resources, skills, and opportunities to provide for themselves and their families, I positioned them as an organization that offers its community members a voice and a seat at the table.

the strategy

social media layout

In an effort to target potential donors and youth in the community, our goal was to highlight real discussions from the program’s weekly community building circles, health and wellness tips and congratulatory posts for the youth’s accomplishments.

brand design

Before

After

The first image was the organization’s initial brand identity. After in-depth research and an understanding of the organization’s mission and vision, I created the second logo to highlight the organization’s principles and values.

The four "openings" represent the organization’s belief that Economic Empowerment, Health and Wellness and a sense of Connectedness and Belonging are inextricably connected to violence prevention and intervention all of which Untrapped Ministries seeks to provide.

The circle represents a sense of community, while the broken chain represents the importance of "breaking" generational cycles that negatively impact our communities/families.

I paired orange, the official color for gun violence prevention, with a black and white aesthetic to represent the organization’s authenticity and grassroots approach to prevention work.

website (not yet launched)

My work with Untrapped Ministries culminated in a 5-page website that highlighted the organization’s mission and values, their work in the community, and a page designated to garnering funds to support the work.

t-shirt campaign

I ideated and designed a t-shirt campaign in an effort to build brand awareness and generate donation. My goal was to get our target audience thinking about the concept, “If you had an unlimited supply of money, resources, and opportunities, what would you do with it to create a positive change in your community?”

In other words: “What Would You Do If You Could?”

“END GUN VIOLENCE”

empowerment /əmˈpouərmənt/: the process of becoming stronger and more confident, especially in controlling one’s life and claiming one’s rights.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU COULD?
